Chpt III

I love this chpt! It's funny how a few of  his thoughts coincide with my own. I remember taking my first placement test in third grade! I was all worried and froze up... i just remember there being penguins on the cover and i believe it was black and purple. So I think from an early start you can find out what side of the brain i was using!
SAT's I went took the test was annoyed by the person sitting beside me taking her shoes off, her feet stank. I was so uptight that, I basically felt like I threw my back out for about the next week. I don't remember my scores, my mom (being the intelligent lady she is) told me not to worry bout the score! So i basically forgot asap. I got into all my schools so it couldn't have been that bad!
Also the cartoon used to show the evolution of Jobs ! PeRfEct! Yay MFA!

Go Fetch!

ugh... So i tried... i failed ! i have a nice looking page and have no freaking idea how to work the o so cute FETCH program... honestly not much to say right about now... i thought it would be simple upload post done. nope .

Blog HTML

I HATE THIS! This program sucks... I tried doing it like eight hundred ba-gillion times. I even used it on two different computers to see if it was just mine! And the stupid <> carrot things that disappeared for you th teacher didn't leave my screen! Its not fair! Wahhhhhhh! This is how i feel.

Chpt 2

"Abundance, Asia, and Automation," this chapter gave me an overwhelming feeling of being a slacker. Abundance stated how the US has far to much supplies and products that things are taken for granted easily. He talked about the drive into Washington D.C. , with its many shopping complexes.
The Asia one I think gets to me the most. I have great parents who pushed me to get into lot of activities and school. With all of there pushing efforts, it never made me better in english or math. I loved history and science! I could never be a doctor, lawyer, or accountant. Daniel Pink doesn't give credit to the other jobs that make up for all that doctors, lawyers, and accountants lack. It touched a nerve cause, I wish the L or R side of the brain with that knowledge would wake up one day.
The Automation leaving our lives to computers. I think we could get along just fine with out cellular devices and computers (WiFi). I see it as US uses it as a pedestal, if it were not to work, it would be a lot like when my cell phone is broken, i could write a letter; use a pay phone; or landline. And well after the first time I learned to carry and address book of my friends and family. People can adapt, we've been doing it for centuries!

Kristin Oppenheim

http://www.ubu.com/sound/oppenheim.html
I was trying to find something peaceful from sound artists and I think I am in love with number 2 and 5 from the audio works of Kristen Oppenheim. She was born in 1959 on Hawaii. Kristen grew up and lives in New York. She recieved her BA San Francisco State University and MFA Hunter College. Number five is adorable....

Two New Media Artist's

I was really inspired by the vocal artist Joan La Barbara. She was educated at Syracuse and New York University. She also attended Tanglewood/ Berkshire. Joan is a composer, vocal artist, and performer. As a sound artist she has broken a lot of boundaries in the art world. She worked as a teacher at university's and colleges.  Joan produced her own radio station "Others Voices, Other Sounds" that is a station of contemporary classical music.  She was an artistic director at Carnegie Hall. Her voice has led to many great opportunities, she has been in films such as "Date with an Angel", "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer", and "Alien: Resurrection".  She has produced many disc's, the songs I heard were of her voice except it was a layered of whispers, clicking, and humming. It was amazing how well it went together. In song number 4 of her 1993 album "73 Poems" it as though she used her animalistic instinct to hiss and buzz, to say so much more.  www.ubu.com/sound/lab.thml As a sound artist, she has used her voice as a painter to your senses.

Project 16 yr old me~

My experience for the first project was a very personal one. It is very intimidating sharing experiences of the past. Its even more intimidating doing it in front of a camera. I am a firm believer in the quote, "live life with no regrets". Unfortunately, like every person there may be a few things I wish I could've post-poned or stopped from happening.

My project partner and I combined our personal stories of regret and what we wished we had known in a year of so much change, at the age of 16. It is amazing how that year effected me. I a lot of experiences that shaped me to who I am. Whether it be new fears or new goals. I think that there is a lot of changes that year I wish I could've made.

The process of writing a script was amusing, you can really hear our individual voices coming from it. We had a hard time coming up with a plot and the scenery. It took us an hour to find a good location to feel comfortable to film. The balance had to be set to a certain scene cause of electronic devices making the screen do a rolling blinking look across the screen. We fixed the small problems and hope everything shows up the way we envisioned it too.

A Whole New Mind Chpt #1

Ouch! My brain ached after reading this, I have known a lot of this information as a child. It didn't come at much shock to me. I think it was interesting that the author of A Whole New Mind, Daniel Pink, had you partake in exercises of uses your left hemisphere and right hemisphere of the brain. To think about which side is working right now and "I wonder which side works best for me", makes my right hemisphere hurt! One new thing I learned from this reading was the part of the brain that is inactive for some people is why someone like my Math teacher from high school talked with no enthusiasm at all, because of one of the hemisphere not being active!

New Media

A personal definition of NEW MEDIA is hard to come by. When thinking about new media, I think of video and film art, installation art, and performance art. Mostly new media, is art through emails, internet, "You-tube", and blogs.
