I was a little late to the ICA today!

I went and first a forgot my id then... I was confused on whether it was park st or south station. Soooo finally getting there I was sadden to find only the 4th floor showing... Basically there were three new displays I hadn't scene for the most part I remember seeing it. I liked Robin Rhode, Jeppe Hein, "Rotating Labyrinth," and Markus Schinwald, "Bob".

Rhode and his freeze framed animation wall drawings were inspiring given our recent works in class. The photo's hung almost as a story board give me a joyful feelings.

Hein's "Rotating Labyrinth" ... made nauseous like I said in my blog of Pink talking about life and it being similar to labyrinth etc.etc. It makes me dizzy! Very well designed and the mirror effect is nice almost like a circus house.

Schinwald, "Bob", this was interesting the emotion and activity produced by the energy given off the dummy foot stomping "Bob". I know that feeling of hurry up lets get there. And the tapping of the foot made me be uneasy around him like he would push me out of his way to get off the T-train if he was real. I like the piece in all.

I was dissapointed there wasn't more. For the chaotic trip it was to get there.

Final Project...

For my final project I have some props set up and I have two girls to be the Caravaggio's painting of Holofernes & Judith... I have yet to find the right male. I need a guy with longer hair! The room and lighting are in check hopefully! And now I have to film on thursday!

PINK " A Whole New Mind"

Hated the first half of the book and like the second half. I Enjoyed the second half of the book with its activities and questions to ask oneself/ taking a different perspective. Pink has a great sight in the book. Which is deep and thoughtful, his writing technique isn't my favorite to follow along with. Also, the first half does have to do with the synopsis at the end. Which is a logical way at looking at the direct in which your steering your life. Daniel Pink, did one thing right he got me using my brain trying new outlooks!

Meaning...

I thought meaning was enlightening. Gratitude I sit and dwell on all the bad and then try to be thankful for all the good! http://www.evergreen.loyola.edu/~rpiedmont/STSR.htm
test I took.. I scored High on all of the tests... over the amount given... I got 15 -15 on both the connected and Universal question tests. The Sabbath .. I need to stop checking f-book and Mmmmspace. I'm an addict and I can do better things like paint and read more often instead of sending bumper stickers!
Honestly, never been in a labyrinth and have no desire too. Something about them makes me feel uneasy!!! Hate them!
I really like this chapter! I think its more like my life style...
I recently changed my room furniture.. I do this when I feel overwhelmed or bugged down in the blues from stress... So this make a new atmosphere and new attitude/ new page! Make me be at ease.
The joy I get giving a gift, or sending a letter in the mail, is something Meaningful. But as artist I feel like we have more in site than others on meaningfulness. We soak in our environment.

For Chapter Play
I enjoyed! Finally... Pink talks about Laughing Clubs being a world wide spreading group... most located in India! They gather together and start "ho,ho, Haa,haa, haa" chants that actually turn into laughter. There is a quote that came to mind while reading

“The human race has only one really effective weapon and that is laughter.”
I do agree with this quote thoroughly. Cause it can heal and cure, it can make you live longer, it could create world peace. Will it... No probably not. I am sure that in all different cultures saw a comedic act they would all respond in the same.

The part in this chapter I found deeply disturbing was the American Arms Video game... The fact that there whole system shut down the opening day of this video game in "July 4, 2002", is disgusting to me. I wasn't raised around video games, I did watch tv. but video games is when all the kids in my neighborhood stopped playing outside. They are trying to get recruitments via internet and a game. Its not a game its a life decision

Empathy Symphony

OKay i hate this book! Its soooo boring to me. I could careless what other thought Pink has !
I dont get what he is saying cause its soooooo drawn out! He is an intelligent man, very knowledge-able about current and past history, i give him all the credit for that. He loses me though, his writing just isn't intriguing.

Symphony & Empathy  bring great perspective to the terms. Symphony had some different activities to do which helped.... EMPATHY was hard to read for me... dull... and his pictures weren't very good.

Empathy

Stop Animation Intro

I enjoyed the presentation on stop animation. It was interesting to see how everyones single drawing came together as a final piece in the end. I found it hard to make the clips long enough to make something of it... five second stop video seems to be UNBELIEVABLY long process. It is almost discouraging to see the effort. The presentation of examples of simple strips are actually more difficult then ever imagined. I understand why GUMBEE was taken off because of the process that they had to go through. It was ridiculously mind blowing.
